While in Ensenada we berthed at Cruiseport Village Marina. It is the newest marina in town, is nice and clean, has a friendly staff, and is on the quiet end of town…. aside from the cruise ship days. Yes, the huge cruise ships started showing up about two weeks after we arrived. Really, the only annoying thing about the place was the amount of soot the cruise ships put out upwind of all the boats in the marina. Sirena got dirty every day from the soot and dust, so we just sprayed her down every two or three days.
When we first arrived, the marina had quite a few open slips, but by the time we left it was almost full! The sailboat traffic in and out gave us new people to meet while we were there. Naturally we became friends with people on our dock and we befriended other boats in the marina as well. Since Ensenada is the closest point to the United States, it is the first or last check out for Mexico. Lots of fishing boats came in and out, staying just long enough to clear their Covid check and get signed off on their paperwork. Like clockwork, the fishing boats would come and leave every 3 or 5 days, depending on their rotation. We even had shark boats come into port and say bye to their guests in the afternoon, and then that evening new guests would arrive. Friendly crew to chat with during their brief docking in between customers.
Last, but not least… the sea lions!!!!!! There is a colony of sea lions that lines the entrance to the harbor and sometimes groups of them come into the marina and make themselves at home on the docks. Luckily our neighbor had a dog, Dory, who was an expert at keeping the sea lions off our dock. The dock across the way from us, not so lucky! But the grounds crew at the marina did a good job about kicking the sea lions off the dock and cleaning the docks.
Overall, we had a good stay while berthed at Cruiseport Village Marina.
