Lazy Days
Hello Everyone! Well, we decided we didn't want to really get to California so fast, so we decided to slow down and sail in circles.. NOT! Wind died on us Tuesday afternoon. Impossible to hold a course headed towards Catalina. Was all we could do to just make sure that we didn't start heading back west! We jibed a few times, did some sail trimming. Then this morning we started up the engine and motored for a few hours. Just until we started to get just a touch of wind, and then we put up our spinnaker. It is barely filling, and collapsing a bit during wind lulls, but we are now pointed in the right direction! Crossing our fingers the wind continues to build and we can start moving along. And also hoping that perhaps the sun will come out today. It's been dreary with nothing but grey skies the past couple days. It's kinda weird being stuck in a high with no sunshine. You never know what you'll get out here, every crossing is different! Two night ago Peligroso passed up at 2am, one of the transpac boats returning home. We hailed them, but they weren't in a very talkative mood. Otherwise we have seen plenty of cargo ships and some fishing vessels. Cargo ships aren't too talkative either, only occasional communication with them is to make sure they aren't gonna run us over! We may cross path with a few more of the transpac deliveries. But considering there is very little wind right now between here and Hawaii, they may be crawling along themselves or holding off on leaving. There are a couple other boats out here traveling from Hawaii to the mainland, but we are all about 1000 miles apart. We know this because of our daily check in with the PacSea Net. It's a ham radio net where sailboats in the entire Pacific can check in and give daily reports. All the reports are posted on their website. You can google it if you are interested. Yesterday was super lazy do nothing day with very little wind. We binge watched Black Sails, currently on Season 3, in between reading and napping. I actually did a lot of napping, didn't feel to well yesterday. I ate something or another a couple days that didn't agree with me. So it was a a good day to be sick all things considering. Today I am feeling much better. :) Greg's cooking pancakes right now! While I am sipping on coffee. Coffee is definitely a morning must for me, wether at sea or on land. :) With the weather, we may be delayed getting into Catalina by a day, we'll see!
