We’re anchored in Caleta Lobos, our first stop out of La Paz!!! It’s very quiet here and nice to be out of La Paz for a bit. I love La Paz, but it’s still a city with lights and noise, and it’s wonderful being out here on anchor. Before getting underway, our morning was very chill, we had almost nothing left to do to get ready to go and that made for a nice morning. Our friend Brian came over around noon to say goodbye and brought a delicious vintage California wine to share. All cruisers down here, ourselves included, drink the same boxed red wine, carton de chateau. It’s reasonably good, but this was a special occasion and Brian’s red wine was perfect to share and have a few laughs. A little later our friend Wayne came over for a farewell visit as well. We hung out and had a friendly afternoon visiting and sharing stories. All too soon, the tide had slacked, and was about ready to head out. We said our farewells, untied from the mooring ball, and were on our way!! With the ebbing tide in our favor, we scooted along at 5+ knots. Thalia was happy to be underway. Engine ran well, excellent temperatures, and the autopilot was right on. All systems happy. We motored out of the channel leaving La Paz behind. We then continued our way up the bay to Caleta Lobos, a nice little anchorage about 10 miles out. It was the perfect distance for our mini shake-down sail. After dropping anchor in about 20 feet of water we kicked our feet up and shared a drink. “Rum and yellow something,” a Thalia trademark drink. Come on by anytime and we’ll make one for you! Soon dinner will be on the grill…barbecue chicken, rice and beans, and coleslaw salad. Yumm! Then rest and a new day tomorrow. Ciao!
